Insurance for old boats that have been restored
« on: May 19, 2008, 05:04:36 PM »
I am in the process of restoring a 1974 222 and have just got it back from having all the glass and paint done. I am now starting to rig the boat.

My question is what is everyone doing about getting insurance for older boats valued much higher than what NADA or service like them that  give values for insurance companies to go by.

Any help will be great.

I will also post some pics for thoses who love to see the progress.

I know State Farm will do a stated value policy... that is the path I plan on.

You will want to go with a "declared value" policy, where you set the maximum loss potential.  Be prepared to provide receipts or other information to support the value that you want for your boat.

Good luck!

I did the "declared value" with State Farm.  Not that mine is restored but mainly for the electronics, etc.  I provided copies of the receipts for large ticket items and they said no problem.
