22.2 Center Console Cracked Hull no regi. blues!

Hi all, this is my first post and I could really use some help.Last year I got a good deal on a 1974 22.2  CC, I had to get it. Great looking boat with a blown 175 and a cracked hull. The cracks occured when the boat filled with water while on blocks and didn't drain. When the weight from the water grew too great the blocks broke through in three areas. Two fractures on either side of keel about thirty inches long and one crack on the front bottom keel. After cleaning the entire boat it looked great, the gelcoat, wiring, steering, all intact and operable. I am familiar with glass work and have a pretty decent amount of boating and repair experience so the whole project is doable. However,when I got the boat (from third party transaction)he stated that he didn't have the registration but would obtain it. The owner had passed away and the boat was sitting in a boat yard and had to go. Any how, it's been about 8 months and no reg. I found the DMV waterproof reg. copy so I have the info and did get in touch with the guy's son but he never called me back. Now I just want to find out how to reg. boat in NY without having the old tranferable reg. I might try to see the son of former owner and see if he would at least write me a bill of sale. Any info would be greatly appreciated. Also I'll post some pics and maybe get some feedback from you folks.Thanks alot in advance for help, Bill.

I had a vaguely similar situation when I bought my 240.  Before I bought it I made sure I could register it.  Boat had no findable previous registration numbers, it was essentially a derelict, and the guy selling it had no bill of sale from the previous owner.  I got in touch with the top banana in our state D.E.P. Boating Div. and went over the situation with him.  I emailed him an ownership affidavit from the seller, pictures of the boat, my filled out registration application and followed up with another call to him.  To cut the chase, he over-rode the regs. and the next day I had my numbers.  Once I had the numbers, I paid for the boat.  No sense shelling out for an non-registrable boat.

Hi Rick thanks for the patience. I have one of two distinctly different plans ; keep it and fix up ,or sell as is. As I had stated in earlier posting I really like the design and overall shape of the boat ,however, I dont know how realistic it is for me to undertake this project ( financially and timewise). Two questions ,maybe you know; One is if the stringers are wood or glass? And the other is how much is the boat worth as is with reg. Thanks again, Bill.

1) The only wood that I think you'll find in that boat is in the sole (flooring) and the transom. Aquasport might have been the first or close to it, to not use wood throughout the boat but back in those years, technology hadn't given them much choice on the materials to use for the floor and transom.
2) I think your boat will be worth ..... whatever someone is willing to pay for it.  It's not a flatback which, when restored and cherried out seem to be worth more,  but it is still an older Aquasport. If you restore and cherry her out - who knows.  We see them for sale from a grand to 30+ grand.

My advice would be to restore the boat if that is the boat which would best serve your needs and you plan on keeping it.  If you feel that something else would serve better than I'd sell it.  If you plan on restoring, strong chances are that you will not get out of her what you put in.

If I looked at the right picture that is a great looking CCP you have :)   I don't know what your needs are, but the CCP should serve the needs that you have.  I would fix the keel, re-power and hit the water :!:
