20 1979 proline

i know that the 20ft. as are very similair to a 20ft. proline and i was wondering i i would be over powering it if i put a 175 yammy on it.

Sounds like a good marriage to me! Ought to give you a good fuel efficient cruise speed. If I'm not mistaken (I once thought I was but I was wrong) the 175 is the same power head as the 150 so weight (about 420#) should not be a problem.

Is it a flatback, or V hull?

I am planning on a 150 or 175 for my 22' flatback, if that gives you any perspective.

thanks i was gonna buy a 1994 175 yammy for her and i was going to rebuild the entire motor from top to bottom. here is the motor link.

IMO, try a 130 or even a 115... if it's a flatback that is.  If it's a semi-v, you might be able to go 150 or 175.
