1986 170 Fuel Sender Replacement
« on: August 19, 2024, 04:56:51 PM »
New owner, new member, first post, I used the search feature but couldn't find the specific answer.....

I have a 1986 170 and the fuel sender is shot:  corroded contacts, broken plastic cover, etc.

The one in the tank is marked as a "Rochester Gauges" and appears to be model # 5-2071. From searching the forum I know (or think I know) that the tank is 6" deep, so that helps narrow down some of the options, but I wanted to start by trying to replace it with what is already there.

I couldn't find that model number online, so rather than guess, I wanted to mine the knowledge in this forum and ask if anyone has a specific manufacturer and model number that will work.

Appreciate any help--if the answer is already out there, please steer me toward it.

Try Moeller, they've got a pretty good help line on their site too.

You may need to pull the unit out to see if it is a vertical or horizontal float.
