rub rail off & there is 4 -1" diameter holes

Took my rub rail off & there is 4 -1" diameter holes that go thru the Hull cap on each side
They were filled with 5200.
Does anyone know if this from the factory?
If so for what?

Emphatically, NO, that wasn't from the factory!  Are the holes in proximity to any vent hoses or pump discharges?  This I'd like to see...

But, as always...

I have a 82 Aquasport 19.6 with the same type holes in the cap and hull, was told by a local boat guru that they were for cap alignment when origonally installed... made sense but not totally sure it's accurate..

I have holes in a similar area , more like slits i guess i havnt removed the rub rail to verify but heres a pic of what i can see .
