2003 215 Explorer mounting bench seat in deck
« on: April 20, 2023, 09:53:13 AM »
I have a 2003 215 Explorer walkaround and I want to mount a cooler seat for additional seating. My question is do I need to be concerned with driving lag screws blindly into the deck (1" long 3/8" lag screws). I don't think that I can gain enough access to do through bolts, plates and nuts? Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

Howard

I have the same boat and the previous owner did this with Marine Cooler Mounting brackets.  The cooler was mounted pretty much right in front of the splashwell, center.  I took it out, but it was nothing fancy...the hardware was probably just #8 SS screws, maybe 1"L at the most.  At that location, no concerns about hitting any hoses, etc....just drilled into the deck core.   defintely put some silicone around the screws though before screwing
