Wellcraft 22 WA/Explorer 215
« on: June 29, 2022, 02:23:31 PM »
Evening all, New to the club here. I have a 1999 Wellcraft 22 WA which should be The same hill as the Explorer 215 (less Pulpit on explorer) I’m powered with a 2004 225 Mercury EFI. Motor had 54 hrs. on it when I got it a month ago, looks brand new. Spent the last month going through the motor (injectors cleaned and flow tested, vst cleaned, water pump, etc.) and finally got it in the water yesterday, 60 lbs ice, a buddy, and 100 gallons of fresh gas. I’m trying to figure out where the gas went…. It’s not in the bilge, or the tank but on a 144 mile trip I had to add 20 gallons to make it home. Back on E. Running a 4 blade 18 pitch stiletto prop, and it’s hitting ~ 5500 trimmed out loaded which is the upper end of my range for that motor. Ran at ~ 24mph out of Galveston around 3900-4100 rpm most of the trip, no wot to speak of. Waves in gulf ~2’ a little steep and pretty short on the period. Anyone else running a 2 stroke carb or efi (Non HPDI) doing any better here? Any prop advice? Thanks! (Oops, had this in the wrong place...)
