1974 222 HIN #
« on: September 05, 2020, 10:41:28 AM »
Hello.

Has anyone ever seen a HIN# on the left (port) side of the transom instead of the right? I have owned several boats and it has always been on the right upper part of the transom including a 1997 Osprey 200,but I haven't owned one this old in a while.

Your feedback would be appreciated.

My 1979 200 CCP Had the plate mounted on the port side of the transom.  When I rebuilt, I put the plate in the more traditional starboard location, plus added a second plate in an undisclosed location.

Is that where your HIN was marked - port side? HIN were not required until the latter part of 1972 and maybe they didn't really lock down which side for the first couple years?

Thank you both for the data. I feel better now since I am ready to dump a lot of $ and labor in this good ole boat.
