2000 Aquasport Tournament Cat 161 plumbing questions
« on: July 16, 2020, 11:22:47 AM »
Hello!  We have just recently purchased this boat, and have been cleaning and working on the drains/scuppers.   Was wondering if anyone is familiar with this catamaran, and if someone might know about the scuppers on both the port and starboard sides up close to the gunwale.  They seem to be connected to something that has tubes/hoses.  My wife prefers the river on the outside of the boat, and dry inside, so am installing removable plugs on some of the other scuppers.
Anyone familiar with this 2000 161 cat that may help us learn more about it?

Thanking you in advance for any help!

Welcome aboard Lloyd.   :s_hi:
Have you found the bilge pumps in the hulls yet?  I'm betting that is what those ports are for. One pump for each hull?
A very cool boat for sure.

Thank you so much for your response!!  Craziest thing... we haven't been able to locate the bilge pumps!!  Removed both of the inside storage boxes on the inside walls, can see foam and some water :c002: , but no bilge pumps!  Any advice from anyone where to look next?

How about a photo or two of the deck area in the stern? Do you see any deck drains back there?

Success!!  Thank you!  We have found the bilge pumps (the hose direction was a little misleading!)  They don't operate at this time, so working on that problem is our POD!!

Thanks again,
Lois

The lower one looks to be a deck drain.

Good for you Lois. Let us know how it goes.  Check the voltage at the switch - maybe the wires are corroded at the switch. Bilge pumps are usually wired also directly to the battery in an either or config. The switch at the dash usually has an auto or manual position. The float switch might also need a look at the connections.
