I am looking at purchasing a 2003 AS 250 Explorer.  Great overall condition, but in checking it out yesterday there was a 90 degree crack about 5 inches long in both directions on the outboard side, top right of the swim entry door to the right of crab handle.  The attached photo isn't of the crack, but the location.  I wish I had taken a photo of it to post here, but didn't.  The crack is through the white gel-coat, not just a hairline crack in the clear coat, and are open about 1/16 inch. Don't want to purchase if it is going to be an issue.
Any information on whether this is getting ready to be a costly issue would be greatly appreciated.

I can't speak for anyone else, but I can't tell what's going on in that pic. :ScrChin:

Sorry.

The red line is where the crack is.  I don't have a photo of the actually crack. Thanks!

It is in the top section rather than the bottom section where the transom is, so that makes be feel a little better.

Use this approach when wanting to show pics - follow the instructions here http://classicaquasport.com/smf/index.php?topic=12725.0  - don't attach them - you are limited by file size. Uploading them into your personal gallery is better for viewing.
Spend a few minutes to absorb the instructions. It's really easy. Remember if using a phone to take pics, to hold the phone horizontal with the lens to the left.

Here is a link to the photo.  The red line I drew on it is where the crack is.  The boat is lifted in and out of at a covered marina.

When you upload the pics using the process above, don't scale or size them.  Upload to YOUR MEMBER GALLERY and the gallery will size them automatically.

Talked to the seller and my buddy that has the same boat.  On my buddy's boat that is the location of the 2-stroke filler panel.  This boat has a 4-stroke, so the filler panel was removed and patched over.  The seller said the repair was poorly done twice and would re-crack, so since it wasn't structural they just decide to not fix it again.
