'84 evinrude 235 remote controls stiff
« on: May 30, 2020, 09:39:50 AM »
so the controls work.  engages foward, engages reverse no problem.  i cant get it to pull out sideways for neutral and when i push it into gear either way, it is very stiff and hard to push.  the engine engages and the tach reads and all, got it up to 3500 and there is no throttle response lag, but it is just very stiff.  anything i can do to lube this to loosen it up a bit? or is it "is what it is"? and how about pulling it out for neutral? any tips or suggestions?  i have not taken anything apart yet because i didnt want to open that can of worms yet.

I think that taking it apart is the only way to free it up. They are not hard to take apart and get back together. If you ever change your cables, it's the same process.
