1986 - Aquasport 22 - Need Opinions!
« on: May 12, 2020, 04:27:21 PM »
Hello All,

I am looking to purchase the Aquasport pictured below (comments). I will be paying between 5k and 6k, and am in need of your opinions. Here is everything I know about the boat so far:

Aquasport 22 - 1986
Mercury EFI 200 - 1998 - Hours unknown
Compression range on the engine 95psi (min) 115psi (max)
Previous owner replaced transom (looks to be reinforced, not sure if this was done during restore)
Flooring has been redone
Do not know if stringers were touched

I have not yet seen the boat in person, I will have to do a full evaluation but I was looking for tips to be prepared and thorough.

Here's a few things to ponder.

Also, does it include the trailer and if so what shape is it in? In the end, it's only worth what someone will pay. I don't recall this hull as being on this Forum but someone else might. Looks like the console wiring had some thought and that is usually a good indicator of the overall maintenance of the boat.

Good luck. :thumright:

Nice - you can tell it was rebuilt just by the center board down the hull.  These FBs like to slide in turns and even turn 90+ degrees when they hit a wave. So it appears that one piece was added (the forward portion) and it didn't do what they wanted, so they added the aft portion.
Nice looking boat though.
You might look through our rebuild forums and find it https://classicaquasport.com/smf/index.php?board=39.0

I agree that it looks to be a Flatback at those ran till 71’ as Mike states. Might want to look into that and if the paperwork shows 86’ something isn’t right. I think Prolines ran out a little further and closely resemble an Aquasport. Is it close where you can take a better look at it?

My assumption is that the guy meant to put 68 on the original post. I’ll verify year on Thursday when I see it. Thanks for the heads up on that!
