1974 19-6 repower
« on: August 31, 2019, 06:45:38 AM »
i recently purchased a 1974 19-6 with armstrong bracket.the boat is currently powered with a 2 stroke carb 150 20" shaft.the boat needs a 25"as it cavitates badly.i have 2 options.i found a resonably priced suzuki 140 four stroke that i could repower with or a 5" extension for the merc.checking to see if anyone has any thoughts on these two options.

Hey Peter. I saw that boat for sale. Looks like it was a good deal. A friend of mine was looking at it too but you beat him to it.

The extension would be the more cost effective way and should help. Without looking them both up I would bet that the four stroke weighs more which won't help your case. Your best bet I would probably be to just pull the bracket off and sell it to me for my 22-2  :nSalute:

Just got back in from running it.best riding boat I have owned the bracket makes it ride like a much larger boat.previous owner installed all new floors, transom,t top, wiring.really like the 150 2 stroke hole shot,on takeoff it digs hard then starts to cavitate then takes off.affraid I will loose the performance with the 140 four stroke Suzuki.
