2000 Aquasport explorer with corrosion on transom - HELP!
« on: August 02, 2019, 03:11:54 PM »
I have a 2000 Aquasport Explorer with a volvo engine and outdrive. The engine has only 230 hours on it. The boat is in good shape except when I had a shop replace the bellows, they found bad corrosion on the transom tube (not sure that that's what's its called, please see picture).

The cost to replace the entire assembly I'm being quoted is over $9,000, more than the boat is worth. They located the part at $4,500.

Any leads on a used freshwater transom (or where I could find one)?

I pretty much have lost the season, and lost my deposit on a slip, and looks like I have a worthless boat.

Any suggestions?

Welcome aboard Alex - Sorry to hear about the corrosion. I can't help on an i/o unit. Someone will pop in that knows though. This might be the first Explorer I've seen with an i/o though.
If you can't seem to find what you are looking for to replace the i/o you could convert the boat to an outboard boat. Sell the volvo engine and put that money towards a good used 200 or 225 outboard. That we can help you through.
