Build a transom bracket?

Thanks for the links. Agreed, there was some great craftsmanship in those.

After reading over a lot of them I'm actually a little more inspired to do it, but I also realised that it's going to be a little more work than I was originally thinking to get what I want. My first thought was to make a simple non-flotation type bracket just to get the setback but the full platform with the flotation is appealing.  For now I'm going to shift back to focusing on the rest of the boat and if i don't come across a good deal on something in the next few months then I will take this on. I'll make sure to update this thread when that time comes.

Has anyone either built or considered building their own transom bracket similar to an Armstrong? I'm enclosing the transom on my 77 22-2 using 1 1/2" Coosa and have been considering building one while I'm at it.

Read my ind I’ve been researching Armstrong extensions for the last couple weeks , have seen successful extensions online , you tube but not sure if I can Duplicate or bind it properly to transom.  Would love to know what you come up with

I’m still sanding my transom for rebuild meaning I haven’t started to add Coosa or ply to make new transom.  I’d love to get more details b/c definitely something I’m gonna add just not sure of design ,  ay help would be much appreciated thank you in advance either way

 

I realize it's not an Aqua. I believe there was a rebuild here that showed a fiberglass bracket molded into the transom but I can't seem to find it.

Bad ass , i have to add one myself ..  I dont know the 1st thing about building the bracket then attaching it and believing it will hold the newer outboard ill buy,,, love to knkw more capt.  New to the site

Well I did end up coming across a good deal on one so I think that's what I'm going to go with. I do enjoy a good challenge but I think this one would have been a little more than I would feel comfortable jumping into. Maybe I'll use that leftover coosa to build a swim platform

I was going to go with the glass but it was much heavier than the Armstrong.  Also one of the manufactures recommend against it on anything smaller than a 24 or 25.  I went with a 12" Armstrong and it is perfect for the application.
