Need Help locating a 1981 222CP, most likely in the New Jersey area

I know this is a long shot but I am trying to locate a 1981 222CP that was sold through "Back Harbor Boat Sales" out of Cape May, New Jersey in 2014.  The boat was a family boat, originally purchased by my wife's grandfather (Mother's dad) then transferred to my father in law.  The boat was sold by my father law after a divorce.  My wife and I are hoping that we can locate the current owners of the boat and potentially buy it back from them when they are ready to get rid of the boat.  If anyone has any information on or suggestions about how to locate the boat it will be much appreciated.  I have attached a picture of the boat and the listing from 2014 to this message.

Have you contacted NJDOT and inquired about the hull registration#?

I would think that may be the surest route in finding/contacting the current owner.
