I am putting pad to paper on my first rebuild of a 1974 aquasport 196. Two of my goals are to throw a 25" transom on her as well as get rid of the casting deck. I searched high and low for how to's on both subjects and found some good info on raising transom, but absultely nothing about removing the casting deck. The removal has me stumped. Can any of you fellas point me in the right direction for either topic? I am just trying to learn as much as I can before I dive in and say ohhh crap what have I done. Thanks

Start here.

Scroll down several posts and see the removal.

More ideas:

Again scroll down to see how the deck/cap was laid out and formed.

Good luck. :thumright:
