fuel tank demensions for an 82 222 ccp ?

Good morning! First off thank you for the accepting my membership, this is a great page , and a great source for anything Aquasport. So I just got a 1982 222 ccp. It is a project boat, fuel tank was already removed when I got it so my question is where can I find the exact dimensions, and also what are your thoughts on going to a poly tank?

Well we don't have the exact dims for your CCP but you can get close by doing the following.

First, your model CCP came from the factory with an 85 gallon aluminum tank.  This vendor (Phil) has made quite a few tanks for members here and will have the dimensions to replace your tank.

While we don't have the exact fit, Wing's 200XF is a smaller version (72 gal.) of your tank. You can use those dims and lengthen the tank to increase size.

Once you get a feel for what will fit in the coffin (length/width/height) also accounting for the fill/vent and supply fittings, you can shop a poly here.

Remember that the use of a poly will require room for expansion, unlike an aluminum tank.

Lastly, once you decide on type and size, there are a number of installs on the forum to guide you on the installation.

Here are the specs:
Tank top is flat
Tank length = 72”
Width at top = 24”
Width at bottom = 20”
Depth at center = 13” – 12” wide belly that slopes up to 12” at sides
Depth (from top) at sides = 12”

Phil at Alloy Metal Works has this info - made mine with a 1 week turnaroud.
