Euro Transom (97 245 Osprey)

Hi Everyone. To make a long story short, just found out that the transom on my 245 osprey is wood core material.
Was wondering id anyone here ever repaired one and what steps they took into repairing the transom.

I think your lower transom is composite (poured) and the upper is wood.

I was hoping that was the case.
I pulled my twins off (Originally came with a Single, has a notched transom).
Looked inside the holes after removing the bolts, saw, what is belived to be was wood.
It was hard to tell, surface of the hole was white (not sure if this was because its composite or because of the 5200).

I hate to say it  but odds are 97 models have an all wood transom.  I know this because another member (Bruce Berger) has a 97 245 Osprey and he had to replace his transom after repowering with a 300 Zuki.  They also thought the upper portion was wood but that is not the case.  The poured composite transom did not become until 98.  Even then if the factory ran out of composite... they would use wood to keep production going.  If your going to twins you might as well have the notch filled in. I have seen another member who hung twins on a single hull and mounted the inside upper bolts in the lower hole in the engine mount.  looked very close to the top edge to me.

I was afraid of that :(
Not that its a big deal, the transom feels solid. Its just a headache if there is any water intrusion.
Can you guys refer/direct me to the person that filled the notch?
This would be my next step.

Reply #6 (Wing) is the best description about the transom on these models (both with and without the "mounting notch")  both rigged single or twin. Again, you may be familiar with this so.....


Both threads contain good info. I will continue to search for a thread showing a transom rebuild but......

EDIT: OK here's all I believe we have. It's not much and it relates to a single mount. You may wish to review the entire thread for some insight to what is going on under the deck itself as far as your model is concerned. It's a 225 but the basic layout is the same only slightly longer in your model.
