These questions and answers were pulled from the capmel.com website. They have a great interview with Bill Miller from "Hooked on Fishing". Nice to see people give credit to the Aquasport.
http://capmel.com/Terry4.htmAs a guide and television host you could own any boat you want, yet you fish out of a boat that was built in 1970. The Aquasport. Explain."They were the first real open fisherman ever built. Before that most of the fiberglass boats were more like bowriders, not built for fishing. The Aquasport came along, and it had a baitwell in the floor up front so you could empty your cast net after you threw it. They really put a lot of thought into it."
Some of the young guys would call you "old-school."
"I like classic lines in a boat. Some of the high-tech boats they have today with their down-turned bows look like they are going to stuff into the wave. I like the high bow. ... I call it a proud bow."
That must be a lot of work maintaining a 36-year-old boat."One of my hobbies is refinishing old boats. I have three boats. One is a 1959 center console, inboard, wooden boat, which was the real bay boat back in the '50s and '60s. Some people call them Boca Grande-style boats. I have the 1970 Aquasport, which Bill and David Graham helped me redo. Then I have an old Boston Whaler, but we don't know how old it is."
