Mounting Minn Kota on bow of 22-2

Hey guys, been gone for a while but I'm back for help!  Just bought a Minn Kota to mount on the bow of my 22-2.  Because of the upward curvature of the bow I need to level the motor out somehow.  I'm thinking of having a shim made out of starboard?  For those who have motors, how have you addressed this issue?  Thanks for the help!

To mount a Minn Kota iPilot on the bow of my 22-2 I made a pad out of plywood encapsulated with glass and epoxy.  The pad has to be wedge-shaped and a couple of inches high to get over the combing.  The best way to get the actual dimensions is by fitting, cutting, fitting again, etc.  I thru-bolted the pad and a Minn Kota RTA-17 quick release to the deck.  I'd recommend reinforcing the deck from the bottom with glass and ply, because the motor does put a load on the attachment point.  Definitely get as long a shaft on the trolling motor as possible. Here's the best shot I have of the trolling motor on my boat.

Is a 60inch shaft optimal for a 22-2? There is now a 72 inch model avail. Do not want the shaft any longer than necessary.

I have a 72 inch on my flat back, just had to put a spacer under the quick release because of the lip

I had a 60 inch, and on the flats in calm water it was fine, any bit of chop or if I had both wells full and walk to the back it would cavitate

I know this thread is a little old... but did you go with the 72"?  I'm doing my 222 with a Riptide 80 and the 60" appears to be very minimally acceptable... but that 72 is HUGE!!

I think somewhere in his thread he said he did go with one of the first 72" shafts sold.

I put a 60" 80# on my 17'0' and use every bit of it in chop. Assuming a little more height on the bow of a 22'2"  I wouldn't even consider the 60".
