Replacement Windshield / Windscreen
« on: July 23, 2018, 10:41:08 AM »
Hi Folks,

Windshield let go on my 1981 222 CCP. Need a replacement. Are UPD plastics still the best place to get one? They seem expensive. $360 + delivery.

Not sure about other windshield suppliers than UPD, but they don’t seem verry hungry for work.  I sent in a quote form for my rebuild.  They had a question about one of my measurements.  I responded to their question, but they never provided the quote or responded to other emails.

I’m now considering building my own.  A piece of 3/8” plexiglass is about $130.  I can get a hot rod for about $40.  I already have a heat gun, router table and other tools required, so I estimate $170 to do it myself.  We’ll see.

Thanks for that. So it looks like UPD is the only option?

I can speak on behalf of my order from UPD, it came as described and I'm really happy with the product.  A lot have complained about how long it takes, and it did take a while, but on the site they clearly outlined how long it would take.  I think my windshield was around 150 shipped. a local retailer was 400!!!! I am okay with waiting for that price difference.  I want to say it took 6 weeks?  However long they state on their site was accurate, and they were actually pretty organized.  They say don't bother reaching out until "X" weeks after the order, which I did.  Once I emailed, they were in touch and responsive and order came on time with mounting instructions and hardware.
