I finally got new T&H Marine Ping-Pong ball scuppers and
« on: October 18, 2006, 12:29:06 PM »
. . . I'll be putting them on after work.  The boat originally came with the Attwood rubber flap scuppers and we finally changed them out last season but went with some "Sea-Dog" brand and they did not fit well at all and let all sorts of water in.  West Marine somehow sent me a $15 coupon if I spent $75 so I found 2 of the T&H Marine ping pong ball scuppers and some DFI/OptiMax oil.

I took off the old scuppers and will save them for future laughs and found that the holes for the new scuppers line up perfectly.  Now, what it says to do is put a bead of silicone around the scupper hole, what should I use?, the regular marine silicone I have?, then what should I bed the screws with?, can I use the silicone or should I use the 3M 4000/4200/5200?

Hi Ben,
You may want to consider a polysulfide based sealant like 3M Marine 101.This type of sealant is usually used below the waterline for fittings(transducers,scuppers,thru-hulls).
