Rear Baitwell Drain Plug
« on: September 04, 2015, 09:35:26 AM »
84 200XF.  The rear baitwell was never plumbed. Dummy Baitwell switch label on the dash board. The baitwell is in front of motor located in front of transom.  Looking down in side thee is what appears to be a plug in the bottom. Drains into the bilge.  It doesn't look like this plug has been removed ever.  Does it twist out? Is there a special tool to get at plug to twist it out?

Lastly, I know the baitwell is in an odd location, being so close to motor.  The motor wiring, linkage etc. right on top of it.  How it supposed to be plumbed?  How and where does it drain when the baitwell pump is running?

I don't recall the 200XF having a baitwell.  Are you sure this is supposed to be a baitwell and not a compartment that a PO converted?  My 200XF had battery boxes on either side...  no baitwell...  of course a 84 could be different.   As mentioned... pics would help!

It's full of junk but maybe this will help.  And yes there are 2 battery boxes on either side.  I removed the hatches over the well fyi.

Thanks for the pic. :thumright:

Could you post one more of the well, maybe this time with the chalking gun, can of unknown solvent and empty Rule packaging placed on top of the teak cover over the battery box? :ScrChin:

Thanks.

One year later.  So these pics show that baitwell is below the waterline and drains into the bilge.  cant access under the drain without lots of cutting.  any ideas how to plumb this thing? Does that bronze drain unscrew?

I think I may have a solution.  Transom mounted baitwell pump.  Plumbed through top of baitwell hatch.  Overflow goes right out the scuppers.  Wire a plug to easily disconnect.  When I need to drain the baitwell, I can drop the pump in the well direct the hose overboard.
