Heat shrink connectors and fuel tanks...An explosive Mix?

Looking for advice on wire connectors to apply on a fuel sending unit? Would prefer not to use heat shrinks that require an open flame... What do you guys suggest? King wire nuts maybe?

Gave up the Bic years ago and use a good heat gun.
Works great.
