Based on what I see in the photo it appears that the tank corners are not even in contact with the fiberglass, so I believe you should be alright with no buffer.  Definitely want some weep holes in the aft bulkhead to let water escape. Have you considered painting the tank?  A couple of rattle cans of self etching primer (zinc cromate) and a couple cans of paint will protect the aluminum.

The tank is actually sitting on the bottom corners directly on the fiberglass. No contact with the foam hull stiffiners.

As far as painting the tank, Im not so worried about corrosion as i will have plenty of drainage and the old tank was 40+ years old with no issue. Just worried about the tank contacting the hull directly and causing chaffing issues.

decided to put floor in for tank and go with 3 in pvc tubes

rigging tubes in and tank strap system, straps are aluminum, I glassed aluminum plates to stringers then drilled and tapped them and ran bolts with locktite to hold straps. I will 5200 pvc between tank and straps to prevent chaffing.



made these pvc blocks then glassed them to hull for extra floor support, some of my bulkheads were lower then they should have been. I glassed multiple layers to build back thickness on top of bulkheads near hull sides.

Looks great. I just got my stringers raised and glassed in tank floor. Do you have a picture of the tank straps that you used. I have a plan
for mine but looking for a more simple solution.

north sorry its taken so long to reply, out of town for a while and playing catch up. Anyways the strap system i built, all i did was cut aluminum plates then glassed them to the stringers.  I then cut smaller aluminum straps and bent them to fit over the tank, and drilled and tapped then plates. I used loctite to put them bolts in holding the straps. heres some pics.

I recently bought a live well which i have sanded and refinished using duratec and gel, i think i came out good. It still needs wet sanding and buffing. i have since started working on my console, the issue i have now is pinholes in the console. i have tried filling them andsanding with gel and also thickened resin, both without success. Any help or advice?

Straps look like a good idea and deployment. 
On the console, are you using poly?  If so, get some bondo from the fiberglass supply place and use that.  That's what I used to solve the pinholes I had.

Yes i will be putting pvc blocks between the straps and blocks to prevent chaffing. I also have pvc strips on the bottom of the tank that will be 5200 to the floor.
