68 22.2 flatback prop selection

i need to replace the prop on my 150 merc xr2..i have a 22.2 flatback with a 40 gallon fuel tank..the boat is pretty much stock no tower or t top.what would be my best choice for size of prop?any ideas?

On the 87 150 Merc I've had, I've been using a 15 X 17 inch prop forever and have had spot-on performance.

I just put a MERCURY MIRAGE 3 BLADE STAINLESS PROPELLOR on my flatback and i love that prop i think it is the 16th or 17th prop i've tried. It is a bow lift prop i have good top end and comes out of the hole great.

The ears on the prop are a lot bigger then a normal prop. The mirage is made to give max bow lift for heavy boats at low speed. The mirage is a great prop. The local Merc dealer will let you try one, mine did.

Hey, '68flatback. We started a thread under the "Classified" section about a '66 flatback here in Miami, Fl. Can you post some pictures of yours, if you get a chance? The one in Miami has the side swim platform, and viewing ports in the hull - you can see pictures of the boat and these features in the thread. Thanks. I'm seriously thinking of buying this boat, but would like to see what she will look like after fixing her up.
