Smart Tabs

Anybody have luck with "Smart tabs" ? They seem easy enough to install and are rather affordable. My 1983 200XF powered with 08 Suzuki 115 DF leans to left unless 2 guys on right side of boat. First of all, what causes this lean? Only added weight on left side is the battery in the rear left.

As to the list, well.....
You could be carrying extra weight on the port side due to water, either in the hull or soaked in the foam stringer on that side. You may also have a "hook" in the hull on the starboard side toward the stern. This is usually from a long life on a trailer with improper support.
My 91 has the hook variety and it is noticeable when the trim tabs are not in use.
While expensive, trim tabs, either electric or hydraulic are a good (abate costly) investment in the overall performance of the hull. Neutralizing a list is just one of several benefits they can provide.
First though you may wish to fiddle with the "torque tab" on the outboard motor. It may help counter some of the list.
How does the hull sit when at rest in calm water. Is the port list visible?
Good luck.

How about prop torque? If the prop spins clockwise won't it list the boat to port? Just a thought
Mod Edit: Sorry DJ, I accidentally deleted the first section of your last post. My bad.

Technically yes but......
I'm not so sure it would be so noticeable as to need two men to counteract. I'd bet any list caused by the hull reacting to the rotation of the prop could be controlled with the motor trim.

The Smart tabs were a good addition to my 200xf. However have hydraulic tabs on my 245 is even better. If your interested I can get you a quote on a set of Lencos

Check and see if the engine is centered correctly on the transom. take measurements from the mounting bolts on the engine to the edge of the hull sides.

Just checked and the motor is centered. Boating season just getting started up here. Gonna deal with it until I get annoyed. Told my wife I need to buy extra beer to counter balance the list.
