2004 215 Osprey Speakers.

Hi everybody.

My 2004 215 Osprey came with 2 speakers in the area between the seats in the back, I want to add 2 more on the front as I've seen in a lot of pictures but I don't have any idea of the precise location of the hole as I know space is very limited in that area (Please see 3rd Picture) , can someone help me regarding this...SeaBob....??

Another thing is the the two old speakers are Wet Sounds SW65 and the toasted so I need to replace them with a similar size speaker, the hole is 5" and I would love to find a direct replacement without paying too much as the Wet Sounds cost....Ideas????

Is pic#3 someone else's boat?
The best way to get anything around one of these boats is to use a fish tape and side it along the upper portion of the liner. A 5" hole is pretty standard for smaller speakers - I think mine were 4 1/2 or 5".

Yes, picture #3 is from the web, just as a reference of where I've seen the speakers mounted.

Other than what I already said, if you can find the way that the rear speakers wires get from the console you can use the same route to get to the liner sides and then fish tape to the front area.  You have to be creative.  Go to Harbor freight and buy a cheap fish tape (some of the more expensive ones are more flexible).  The upper liner area is the easiest to get from aft to front.
I did this same thing on my 170 to replace nav light wires and my boat has(had) no penetrations to the bilge - everything was above sole, to include the fuel tank.

Thank you for your answer, in my case the boat already have all the cables for the front speakers....maybe something Aquasport made to make life easier. What I need is what size of speakers do you guys have installed in this model and the exact location to ensure proper depth space available to install the speakers.

From an experience standpoint, I agree with the poly planar brand as I had them for quite a few years (and a number of replacement stereo units) and they held up better than I could have hoped for as well as sounding pretty good too.

You say you have a 5" cut out for the existing so why would you not do the same forward?

You're probably not getting a huge response from members because we don't see this particular model that often. Still, the polys (in the past anyway) have been a good value between cost, longevity and sound.
