1982 ccp with 1994 yami 200
« on: April 17, 2016, 10:35:33 AM »
Anyone know the weight of this boat ?  Trying to get this boat to do 48mph. Anyone been there done that ? Got a 15.25 x 19 on there now, it hits that number but is porpoising wildly. Maybe 48 is unrealistic and I should drop down to a 17 and settle for 43.

Step down to the 17. I had the 200XF  (same hull as ccp) with a mercury 200 and a 17 prop. These hugs are not designed to go fast. They have a deep entry with a deep vee up front that is ment to cut thru waves.... not go fast.

Mine topped out at 47 mph before the T top.  I never had any issues with porpoising.  That's with a 200 Merc. and 19 pitch prop.

They can go fast... but your just gonna burn much more fuel.   A certain hull design is going to have a happy cruise speed for certain sea conditions no matter what the power...  This is knows ans the sweet spot.  You'll burn less fuel and get better range and ride at that speed.  For your hull I'd bet that speed is about 30 or so mph.  I never mentioned anything about porpoising... They will just get squirrely and not handle well at high speeds.  Especially the 12 degree hulls and the flatbacks.

That's right. Could be his loading if you didn't have trouble.
