What might be the fiberglass hull thickness ?

I recently discovered the hard way that someone previously used too long of a screw to mount a bilge pump basket.  I have a 96 AS Explorer Walkaround, I think the hull is just fiberglass but I'm not positive.  The screw looks like it might be at least 1/2 inch. I can't measure it.. had to put it back in quick to stop the water from coming in..  Does anyone know what the thickness of the hull might be and what length screw is best/safest to use for this type of mounting ?

I also have to plug up the small leak, not sure if I should use epoxy or I think it's Marine Tex...  I'm guessing the screw might need to come out someday..

I would guess that the hull is at least 1/2-3/4" thick in the aft. Has to be to take the beating a boat gets.
I would use a screw that extends only 1/4" into the hull and use 5200 as the adhesive.
For the repair I would see if you can get the screw out and then mix up some epoxy and cabosil or something to thicken it up and press it down through the hole. Maybe even use a syringe to get it in there.

One of the only things I use 5200 for...   Couple dabs on the basket and shes not going anywhere!

Just have to let it sit for 5-7 days for a full cure.  Don't ask how I know that

I would try to avoid putting screws into the hull laminate.  Better to use 5200.  I would 5200 on a piece of thin starboard or even a cut-out of a piece of fiberglass.
