Bilge pumps on 1985 CCP 200
« on: April 19, 2015, 08:29:09 PM »
I see two hoses leading out high starboard side aft.  What is the best access to the pumps.  Do I remove the battery remove the board that the battery is sat on in the starboard compartment or the port compartment or is the only access through the pie plate in front of the useless transom liveWell? Surely there must be a way without removing the livewell?  Any  ideas?

The best bet is to remove the battery and the bin it sits in.  That will give you really the only access to the discharge hose for the bilge pump.  I had a 200 CCP, but I didn't have the battery trays aft so I just lifted the hatch and there it was.

If you want to remove or replace the pump itself, your only access would be through that pie plate.  Do you use the live well in the stern?  You could always cut out the bin of the live well and that would give you full access to the bilge.  Just cut out the liner and leave the hatch in place.  If I still had my CCP, that is what I would have done.

CCPs came standard with one bilge pump in the rear and another pump amidship was an option.  The rear pump is accessed through the pie plate in front of the livewell.  The other bilge pump (if installed) is accessed through a pie plate in front of the console.  If you have the coffin - the pie plate is under the coffin, so you have to unscrew and lift up the coffin to get to the pie plate and the pump.  Both pumps are not easy to get to through a 6" pie plate...     It helps to have long, skinny arms!   :tme:
