I have been eying this old 22-2 for about 3 years that's been sitting in a friend's neighbors driveway. It's been sitting out in the weather for God only knows how long. The boat has not been used/moved in at least 5-6 years. I crawled up inside the boat and found soft spots along the far port side floor that runs fwd from just aft of the console about 2-3 feet. The motor is probably shot and it needs a new trailer and console re-glassed. not stress cracks in the cap that I have found. All wiring is shot, steering cables rusted out. Could be a beautiful boat. My questions are as follows:
-How do I inspect under the cap for rot without pulling it off?
-How can I test inspect the transom?
What all problems do I need to looking/testing for before I make the owner an offer? All help/advise is greatly appreciated!
