2004 Aquasport 19 Osprey CC
« on: April 21, 2015, 07:45:00 PM »
I just purchased a 2005 Aqua Sport 19 Osprey CC and it has a 50 gal internal gas tank. The boat has been sitting for over a year and I am trying to figure out the best way to get the old gas out of the tank.  Any help would be appreciated... Andy

Shove a length of garden hose down into your fuel tank. Put the other end of this hose into a container to catch the fuel in. Basically a siphon hose.

Get an air hose from a compressor, and blow compressed air into the fuel filler. You will have to keep a rag around the air line at the fuel filler in order to pressurize the fuel tank. The pressure inside the tank will force the fuel out the siphon hose.

If there are any vents from the fuel tank, you would have to temporarily plug them for this to work.

Same principle as Willie's suggestion, but disconnect the fuel line from the engine and put the end in a container.  The end of the fuel line must be lower than the bottom of your tank, so you may need to add a few feet.  The lower the free end, the better the flow will be.  Squeeze the primer ball until you get flow started.  Then let the siphon do the work.  Make sure you have enough containers to collect all the contents.  This won't get 100% of the contents, but it should get you down to the pickup intake.

Both methods above work.
I use the second (I have a dedicated fuel pick up) when I do my yearly drain.

Thanks again  I was able to disconnect the fuel line at the primer bulb and put a fuel line into that  then I was able to use a compressor and pump air into the tank  once the siphon started I was all set  took about 1.5 hours but I got 15 gallons out....thanks ...Andy
