Compression Latches
« on: April 15, 2015, 01:54:03 PM »
I purchased replacement latches for the bow storage units on my 01 Osprey 250, the "T" handles of the others were busted off.  The ones in the lids were Perko so I ordered the exact same latch; measured with a digital caliper.  When I put the new ones in the latch doesn't reach the stop!  I measured the length of the pawl or whatever the thing on the bottom is, same length, doesn't reach!  Took the old pawl off and put it on the new latch, doesn't reach!  Put the old latch back in, reaches just fine!   :wtf01: The only way the new ones reach is if I turn the entire latch 90 degrees with the "short" distance closer to the latch hold down.  I know it doesn't matter, but dang it I want the "T"s on the handles facing parallel to the centerline!  I know OCD on my part; I'll just turn them.

I didn't see an actual part# on the old latch, but measurement wise and looks wise it is the exact same latch.  I'm just going to turn the entire assembly in the hole and call it good.  I thought maybe there was a trick or something.    This was after replacing the latch on the anchor locker door and that not lining up with the metal catch at all, so maybe I just need to talk nicer to it!
