Of course, usually when they are trying to offset a heavier engine or a bracket addition or more batteries in the aft, etc.
Just to do it because you want more room in the aft, be careful, you'll change the Center of Gravity of the boat.

Remember that the boat was designed with a specific CoG and the console/fuels tank and possibly batteries were placed in the console at the CoG. Unless you're going to offset the CoG a little in the aft with some added weight the boat will handle differently and be bow heavy  :huh02:

Several folks have moved the console forward a bit to make more space aft.  Aquasport actually did this on the last version of the Osprey - if you look at the 2005 (last model year) 255 - you can see how far forward the console is.  The ride gets worse when you move the console forward, and CG can be an issue, especially if you have 2-3 batteries under the console.  The 255 is nice for trolling and fishing from the back, but there is very little room up in the bow area:

I moved the console forward on my old boat to "trim" her out, She was stern heavy.
The side benefit was more room aft.

something else to consider is the weight of the people you move forward when you push the console up.  If your hanging a heavy engine or putting it on a scissor style bracket I would absolutely move weights to offset this (tanks. baitwell, console, etc).  If you know where you current CG is located, you can make a simple spreadsheet that tallies the moments fore/aft of the moved weights
