245 Osprey Rod holder placement
« on: April 02, 2015, 04:50:19 PM »
New to the forum, rookie poster. I am trying to determine what is in the cap below the gunwale?? Specifically forward of the factory rod holders. Would an after market rod holder in this location create a rot problem if it was not plumbed?

There is foam under there most of the time.  Not a big deal with a rod holder, as not much water goes down there and it's open to dry out.  My CCP has outrigger holders in that area - and they have been there since 1980.  I opened the area up a while back and the foam under them was OK.  So if it's not a problem after 35 years...   :tme:

Thx for the reply, I assume that all the models are closed cell foam? I guess I could probe the rod holder to determine if there is foam in place and just how wet it may be.
