2002 225 Explorer, 2002 Yamaha 200 HPDI

Guys,
I'm still mulling this one over and it is still on the market.  Dealer tells me over the phone that the reason it hasn't sold yet is because it has several gelcoat dings so there are some cosmetic issues.  Motor is a 2002 Yamaha 200 HPDI with 1324 hours, good compression.  Boat and motor have been serviced each year by the dealer. Can't really tell much from the photos except that there appears to be a crack on the plate where the fishbox hatch hinges are mounted.  I am planning on taking a good look at the boat/motor in the next couple of weeks.

My question is, if this boat is what it is with some cosmetic issues but otherwise decent, what would be a good starting point for a counter offer?  It is listed at $17,900 and it has been on the market for a while.  Is it reasonable to expect to be able to negotiate down to 14 or 15K?  I would have to spend about $3,500 on a trailer so I have to factor that into the big picture.  I know there are a ton of variables but what do you guys think?
Thanks, Dan

After looking at the ad, you would need to see it close up as the photos don't tell much. It does look like it's seen a good deal of sun during its life and bottom paint with no trailer indicates a life in the water too.

As is.....Special :det1:

NADA shows it in good shape at the asking price. I don't think so.

11K maybe 12K if it's your dream ride but make sure its a sweet one and not a nightmare. Since it's been sitting, maybe they will work with ya. Couldn't hurt to ask.

Good luck

Yeah, I asked about that "As Is Special" and the dealer told me that they basically go over and fix everything with the boats in there "Pre-owned" section and not so with the As Is Specials.  They pretty much make sure it's not going to sink and that safety items like bilge pumps function but other than that it is, well, as is.
