Aux. motor bracket for Ex. 215
« on: August 21, 2014, 03:58:00 PM »
Greetings:   Thinking of installing a aux. Motor bracket on the stern of my 1997 EX. 215. Anyone with advise or product recommendations would be appreciated. Is there a template for this 'adventure'?......l would hate to mount it to high or low!    THANKS!    Warsar

This seems to be a common one if you want a bracket that will allow you to bring the motor out of the water when not in use.

I would imgine that the bracket has instructions that you can view before you buy. I would guess that you measure from the inside top of the clamp on the aux motor down to the cav plate.  Then flip the bracket open all the way and add the measurement that you just took from the motor, to the length of the device adding it from the top of the black block where the aux motor would mount.  This should tell you about where the engine cav plate will end up. The cav plate on the aux motor should be approx at the bottom of the hull, when deployed at whatever place you plan to mount the bracket, so work the measurements backwards from the cav plate up to where you hope to mount it.
Hope that makes sense.

Thanks, Rick.   That looks good. I have an old Nisson 5 hp from our sailboat days I thought might get us back in a pinch (no wind or current, that is!!)   Warren
