« on: May 24, 2014, 08:21:30 PM »
Hi I am looking for the top to a 1984 200xf. If anyone has one for sale or knows where I could find one it would be greatly appreciated.

I'm fuzzy on exactly what you're looking for so can you give us a little more detail?

Cabin entry, Bimini, complete cap, etc.

Thanks and ...
Good luck.

Sorry about that. I am looking for the Bimini top and frame. Don't really mind if it has the enclosure or not but that would be a big plus. Thank you

That's a real shot in the dark I'm afraid.
An actual OEM issue frame wouldn't be really different than one custom made per say but it sure would have some miles on it so....

You would be better served (though I'm sure you're trying to hold down cost) to have one made fresh. You could also try (if you haven't already looked) a semi DIY install from one of the internet (like Carver) suppliers. I believe several members , myself included have gone this route. The frame and top are not bad quality, easy to assemble and install. No enclosure but you measure your boat and they build the frame to fit. It would be your least expensive route for a new install.

Not sure where you're located and what you are willing to spend but here are a few ideas.

There are a lot of tops here. Again knowing your dimensions will help (see next link).
http://www.themarineconnection.net/BiminiTops.html

A number of different vendors for Carver tops/covers so shop the net for best price if you go this route. This site (as others) will help you with measurements you need.

More expensive for sure and from a convenience standpoint rather permanent (though I was told total weight was just 68lbs.) so you could take it off for storage/building entry (possibly). Also this has the ability to add an enclosure.

Good luck.

Sol,
I moved this to the Discussion forum where it may get a little more input.

Thanks for the compliment.
I do have the original frame (and material) that came on my 210 and would gladly give it to you but you may find shipping to be high due to its shape (where do you hang your hat?).

The Carver comes in a rectangular box and shipping is free (think included in the price). If you decide to go in that direction, you have several options you may want to use. Upgrading the frame to stainless, different fittings and mounting hardware. It all comes with a price. It does come with a "boot" and that is nice for trailering and storage.

I mounted my pivot points outside of the windshield. The factory mounts were located on the top of the windshield and I never cared for that place of attachment. It also had a fixed length support pole on each side in the rear for collapsing when trailering/storage (those do not come with the Carver top but are an option). I chose to use adjustable length poles for my needs but they can be somewhat troublesome and require periodic maintenance.

I loved the Atlantic Towers "T-Top" but could not justify the much higher cost.

Lastly,
This was a setup I really liked too but isn't readily removable.

Good luck. :thumleft:

I had a top for my 200XF that connected to the windshield.  It had a zip down clear vinyl window that was nice if things got a little snotty.  I'm pretty certain it was custom made.  To be honest it was a pretty small bimini as far as bimini tops go.  I also had a larger bimini that covered the aft cockpit.  I'll see if I have any pics of it.

Edit:

Found this pic of me with a kingfish and you can see the bimini on the 200XF

Capt that is a very cool set up. I would like to put the arch on one of these days. I actually went the carver route the price was very good for a new top and frame. So again thank you very much for the help. Also wing thanks for showing the picture of yours it's good to see what it use to look like.  My hull is actually blue and I have to do a little work to it I will be painting it this year and then take care of a couple of soft spots. I'm glad I was told about these forums everything I was told about the help here was spot on

I had looked long and hard at buying the arch setup with the bimini top.  I think that gives you the best of both worlds.  I ended up moving up to a 245 in the end.  I will say I really did like the 200XF.  For the size of the boat it had some pretty good room.

Nice to see another 200 XF owner here from the same timeframe! My HIN states the hull was made in 84, but it has a 1985 paint job. Sounds like yours has an 84 paint job. Post a pic in the Explorer Registry if you haven't already, and welcome aboard!
