Help rigging a dual station

I wanted to ask for some guidance on rigging a dual station in the tower of my 222. I have done a search and found a few items that refer to using morse controls, and a transfer switch. Can one of the builders out there provide a tutorial for me on this. Pictures under the console showing how the transfer switch is mounted would be nice as well.  Thanks

Engine make would be helpful.  The transfer switch, regardless of engine make, is just that, a switch, mounted on the dash.

So whaddya got?

I have a 2014 Suzuki 175 on a 1967 Flatback. My tower is a used tower that came off a Dorado, full folding tower made by Quality T-Tops in Tarpon Springs. I have Seastar Twin S controls.

Spot, personally, I would contact Browns Point marine (top notch Zuke dealer) and have them tell you what you need harnessing wise.  You're certainly gonna need a Y-harness, an extension to run upstairs, key switch/kill switch panel, as well as a station transfer switch...http://www.brownspoint.com/store/pc/home.asp

Thanks Bob - I contacted Browns Point but no reply as of yet.

Anyone else have any feedback, I see a lot of the FB on this website with towers and a second station. If I'm not asking the right question let me know. I just need to know the best way to make the throttle and shifter talk to each other from the console to the tower. Thanks

Spot, that's the easy part, with mechanical shift/throttle.  With S controls, you simply cable the binnacles in "series".  Upper station throttle to one side of the lower station throttle butterfly, the other side of the butterfly back to the motor.  Same deal with shift.  The butterfly is what I call the plate in the binnacle that the cables attach to.  If for some reason you had a lot of degrees of bend in your cables, then you might want to consider cabling the binnacles in parallel, using transfer boxes, but that shouldn't be necessary.

The "hard" part is the electrical, if you truly want to have station separation.  In other words, only one station works at any given time.  If you don't mind that the boat could be operated from both the upper and lower at the same time, it's just a matter of splicing into the engine harness (provide gauges for up top) and the key switch wiring (key switch/kill switch up top).

Bob - this is what I was looking for. I want to keep it simple, there is no reason I would expect to have complete isolation from each station. As long as I can safely operate from up top and it does not alter the function at the console I'll be happy.

The tower is set up with rigging tubes already that run from the console to the tower control box. I am first going to try and run everything within these tubes. If I run into difficulty with this I will drop back and punt and use flexible rigging tubes.

Spot, your only "issue" with rigid rigging tubes between the stations is going to be whether the shift/throttle cables can withstand the tower being lowered without too much of a bend.  Teleflex Xtreme cables can do a 4" bend radius, but one would prefer to keep that figure a bit more.  Otherwise, you're going to run into stiff throttle/shift issues down the road...
