Aquasport 19-1 Osprey or Gull?

I have an Aquasport 19-1, I do not know weather it is a Gull or Osprey! Also was it suppose to have an inboard fuel tank? And is the deck suppose to be autobailing??

I believe on the 19-1 the fuel tank is inside the console.  I don't think the Osprey model name was around yet.  All Aquasports came with self bailing decks.

What would be some causes for not allowing the deck to be auto bailing?

Blocked scupper drains or... as these boats age they gain weight and sit lower in the water.  so the scupper drains are no longer above the waterline.

Also a big culprit (possibly the main culprit) is putting a new(er) motor on it that weighs more than the original design of a 75hp.  Some of the newer motors weigh upwards of 100+ more pounds than the older motors that the boat was designed for.

Couple of good points.

As they age, they'll leak around the bilge (garboard plug) drain. Original sleeve adhesive dries out...they leak. When the boat is in the water, the water fights to get up through the transom plywood to its own level. She becomes heavier through the years as the transom continues to leach and upwardly absorb water.

The water is encapsulated by the fiberglass skins. Engineered to keep water out, they are equally adept at holding water in.

Rick makes an excellent point on engine weight. Tough to find a strong single under  300 pounds nowadays.

One of the reasons clean two-strokes are still desirable and worth good money.
