brands of oil- is there a difference
« on: May 30, 2014, 04:44:27 PM »
wondered if there was a difference between brands of oil for outboards?
up to this point I have only used Yamaha 2stroke outboard oil for my 150 vmax... IS there a difference between the Yamaha oil vs quicksilver 2stroke oil?

Chris, that question has been debated over and over, most often by people who really don't know...they just listen to what the manufacturers "tell" them, as the manufacturers want your hard earned oil-spending money in their pockets.  I think we all know guys that have used Wal-Mart branded  TCW-3 in all makes of O/Bs with no ill effects...

Same thinking, but we like the verified, certified Chinese production round these parts

Ace is the Place.

Wish the Ace TCW III was labeled "Hungchow Sino LLC"

Could save even more.

Run it...it will burn :thumright:

FYI, I just rebuilt my 115 Ocean Pro. The entire exhaust tuner was covered in sludge from cheap Walmart oil. IDK if there is a difference, but I use Evinrude Mineral oil for my motor now, 19.95 gal at Walmart and no issues with sludge anymore and it is non synthetic. Mine also carries the Yamaha oil I think for not much more money.
