Engine starts but won't run

Hi new to the forum.  Just bought a 1997 215 DC with a 97 150 Johnson Ocean Pro.  Had it out for an hour or so and all fine.  took it out for 2nd voyage and about 15 minutes in engine stopped.  can squeeze the bulb and get it to start but does not want to continue to run.  I'm thinking there is some type of fuel delivery issue.  Connections on the fuel hose appear good.  Don't know this motor well yet but looks like the fuel pump is right on the front.  did notice some fuel leaking around it.  There is a red switch on the front of it not sure what position that is supposed to be in might have been changed.  I unscrewed the fuel filter housing and the oring is expanded so could not get it back on without it leaking.  I like to fix stuff myself and have a really good connection for marine parts but pressed for time with family in town and planning on dropping it off Monday morning at Cuts marine in Palmetto to have them look at it.  Just thought you guys might have an idea what it is when won't continue to run.  I did notice o small brass fitting that holds the line going from the cylinder to the carb on one cylinder is corroded through and leaking.  Thanks and looking forward to getting this boat to the point where I can depend on it.

The red "lever" is your primer solenoid manual override.  6 o'clock is start, 12 o'clock is run...

I got an oring and fixed the filter housing issue and it seems sealed up.  also had one of the six elbows that go from the cylinder to the carb that had corroded through so put some JB weld on it until I can replace it.  Checked all the fule line connections and even tried running it from a separate tank of gas.  Would the manual prime lever cause the engin to stop after a secont if it is in the start position?  Ill put it in run and try it.  Wondering if the Oil mix pump has failed and the engine is shutting down to protect itself.  Not sure how to check that.  If it has to be replaced I'm going to just mix the gas.  Need to know how to convert.

tried it in the 12 oclock same result.  Bulb does not get firm.  Starts for a second then dies.

If it runs for a few seconds in "high" idle then dies when it would normally idle down, may be a stator or power pack.  I starts on one power coil on the stator then when the temp switch closes, it goes to another power coil on the stator.

VRO pump.  converting to mixing gas.  Does anyone know what the fuel capacity of a 1997 215DC with a Poly tank is?  little tag on top of the tank is unreadable.  Have to figure out how much oil I need to add to the almost full tank.
