Speaking of a tunnel....the old Atlantic hulls had an inboard motor well running an outboard. Like a Simmons Sea Skiff. They really shined for running and pulling gill nets off the transom.

They'd run the nets from a narrow trough behind the motor. Up and over a fairly high transom. The transom usually had canvas, etc draped over it to keep the nets from hanging.

The spots would run here in early October. When they would RUN....have seen Atlantic well boats come back to the hill with a thousand pounds of spots. So many fish, so thick, they couldn't waste time picking on the pull in. They'd load nets/fish and head to the hill, doing their best to get her on plane with a two cyl. 35 Johnson.

Get her stern-to on the hill....and pick fish 'till dawn.

Deffinatly a cool looking boat.  If I'm not mistaken I think Morgan also made a 24 some guys are turning into tower/ tarpon style boats and another model in the 30' range but you deffinatly have something rare there I've never seen a 17 before besides yours.
we currently have 2 morgan 24's at my work, one is a 1982 straight inboard with a 454 chebby, gunnel mount tower, all kinds of teak, the boat looks good(but IMHO is built worse than an old proline)... the other is a 2004 and has a 225 yamaha 4s on a porta bracket, regular t-top tower, all composite build(i think). both hulls are paper thin...

Aaron showed me the 2004 the other day.  It is a sweet looking boat, but Aaron's boat is solid as a rock compared to the Morgan.

With the NIDA coring that he used, his is like a tank    I think he is using the Rick skool of rebuilding

Now just waiting for the turret mount for the Ma Duce,  :bounce: then it would be SWEET :afro:

yeah the owner of the 04 morgan felt embarrassed when he pounded the hull bottom and sides of his boat then did the same on mine. its like hammering the bottom of the contender, zero flex or sound, like hitting concrete

ill be taking her across the scales once i get the gelcoat done. should be interesting...
