Opinions on 2004 225 mercury 4 stroke
« on: May 10, 2014, 10:26:58 AM »
My folks are looking at a boat that was fitting with a new old stock Merc 4 stroke. I had twin bobble heads on my last boat but no experience with the 4 strokes.

04 motor installed in 09.

Any opinions or problems with this motor?

How are they on fuel economy?
Ive never met an alligator I didnt want to turn into a wallet and side of nuggets.

the mercury 225 4-stroke is basically a yamaha in a black sheeps clothes.  even the casting numbers are yamaha... i would be concerned with corrosion in and round the midsection as the 02-04 yamaha 4-stroke's where know to have corrosion issues which would allow crank case oil to leak out...
