I'm curious.

Do you have a photo of the fuel pump and it is located under the center console?

Look like this model?

Don't think that's a fuel pump under the console...  Could be a filter/water separator - or an oil tank - or ????

I was going to comment, something to the effect of, "Uh, there is no fuel pump on a 165 Striper", but I did have one customer's boat that the PO had installed a Mr. Gasket electric pump in lieu of a primer bulb, on a momentary on/off switch.

When I was building Hydra-Sports' 3000 Vector, the boat came standard with OMC electric fuel primer pumps...no bulbs...

HAHHAHA!!!  Haven't thought of those in years   OMC put them out for the big boats with V-8s so you wouldn't have to squeeze the primer bulb for 15 mins per engine to get them to start :D

Here ya go Loye, a little blast from the past...

Noisy little bastards too, IIRC, until they filled with fuel.  Sounded like macerator pumps...
