1993 210 Osprey transom repair questions
«

How do I glass the transom back to the foam stringers? Do I need to brace the stringers higher on the transom or just glass it in like it was before? I closed the transom in and putting a bracket on

210 Osprey with an enclosed transom and an Armstrong bracket will be a sweet set up. If it was my boat I'd tie the stringers into the transom with knee braces.

I would agree with Wing - give the transom some more meat for the bracket/engine to push on.

I think I will defer to the experts here - I think 4 lb foam is not very structurally strong, even with glass on it.

4 lb foam is pretty much what the original AS stringers were filled with. It’s ok, but that means that most of the strength comes from the skins. That means that you would want a minimum of 3/16 to 1/8 inch of fiberglass encapsulating the foam. It would be best to match or exceed the original thickness of your stringers. You may also want to widen your gussets/knees. Think the AS trapezoidal stringer design.

It is definitely better to carry the shape of the original Aquasport stringers all the way back to the transom. As for the gussets, the Coosa wedges should work fine, or since you already have the 4lb foam, you could double it up so that it is the same thickness as the top of your stringers and glass with at least 3/16-1/8” of glass.
That’s similar to what I did on my rebuild, only I had some leftover H130 divynecell
, so I used it for my foam.
Kind of like this:

Looks good ... I have enough 1 1/2 coosa to make 4 9x18 wedges (or a little smaller) and then fill in the rest with foam and glass in
