pop up or pull up cleats?
« on: March 21, 2014, 11:02:52 AM »
Im going to replace the front cleats on my osprey 200 with a single flush mounted one. Are the pull ups better ( reliable) or just go with the accon 6" pop up?
Also anyone familiar with the flip up nav light? Thinking that or the shark eye lights for a clean bow.

I have both 6" pull-up cleats (3) and a flip-up LED nav light.
The boat has not been in the water yet so I have no idea how they will work though.  Seems like they will work fine and will be in the down position most of their lives.

Accon makes a great product. I have the flush bow light, 8" pull up on the bow and two 6" pop ups on the stern. I recommend you go with 8" cleats.

I purchased some 6" accon pull up cleats in their blemished section and saved a bunch of denaro. There was nothing wrong with them that I could see. Their pop up nav light is nice too but pricey so I picked one of those up too.

Eugene from Shipoke advises that some of the Accon cleats will rattle at idle.

Thanks for the help. I'm getting started on the upgrades very soon. Gotta get the basics done before the $$$ goes into tabs . jackplate . Canvas work etc......

I got 5 of the 6" Accon wide line cleats on their scratch & dent section also.  Seem like excellent quality, but I haven't actually installed them yet.  The only thing wrong with them is the studs are shorter than normal (1.5" vs 3"), but they should be fine on our boats.  They are wider than most cleats you see on these boats, so I'm hoping they look good installed.

I haven't installed mine either I hope they don't rattle like Eugene said. That would suck. I would have to stick a toothpick or something in them to stop the rattle.

Yup or 1) don't idle or 2) turn up the music  :thumleft:

Knew it wasn't going to be a great thing to report...

Cleat size wasn't specified.

Will give Eugene a call and report back.

No rattling with my 8" accon pull up bow cleat. Mine is the one with the threaded bar that ties into the bow eye for lifting purposes, not sure if that makes a difference. Very happy with both the pull up and pop ups from accon.
