Funny you should post that.  I have been playing around with my own quad copter making videos.  I've been working up the ummm experience to video the Aquasports in action.  So here is a practice video chasing the quadcopter with me riding on the back of my buddies golf cart.

So what's the payload on that bad boy, Bruce?  Could it carry a case of beer?

Probably an empty one!  lol.  The quad weighs in at about 700 grams and the gopro with a stabilized gimbal mount add another 350 or so grams...  so flying weight in the video is just over a Kilo.  I've heard it can lift a kilo but I never tired and the battery life would be very short.  There have been several publicity ads like that with quads such as Amazon and Netflix sending stuff via drones.  They make for entertaining video but in reality the tech is just  not there yet.  BTW the one I have is capable of returning to the point where the motors were first started all on its own (return to home).   I've tried it a few times in a park by taking it off of a blanket flying it around and then turning off my transmitter...  the drone climbs to about 20 meters.... then flies back over the takeoff point and then slowly descends and lands all on its own.  It's pretty spooky to see.
